Export your set as a 320 kbps MP3

Français · English · Español · Deutsch

Required format on XBeat Radio: MP3, constant 320 kbps (CBR), 44.1 kHz (or 48 kHz), stereo. The site checks every file and automatically refuses the others.

The easiest way

Record your mix as WAV (Rekordbox, Serato and Traktor all can), then convert it with one of the free programs below.

Audacity (free — Windows, Mac, Linux)

Download: audacityteam.org

  1. Open the WAV file of your mix (File > Open).
  2. If needed, set the project rate to 44100 Hz (bottom left of the window).
  3. File > Export Audio…
  4. Format: MP3 — Bit rate mode: Constant — Quality: 320 kbps — Channels: Stereo.
  5. Export.

fre:ac (free — Windows, Mac, Linux)

Download: freac.org

  1. Drag the WAV file into the window.
  2. Choose the LAME MP3 encoder and open its settings: CBR mode, 320 kbps.
  3. Start the conversion.

Ableton Live (version 11 or newer)

File > Export Audio/Video, sample rate 44100, then turn on Encode MP3 (Live exports at a constant 320 kbps).

Other software

In the recording or export settings, look for "MP3", "CBR" or "constant bitrate", and choose 320 kbps and 44100 Hz. If in doubt: record as WAV and use Audacity.

The file name

When you choose the show and the broadcast date in the form, the site renames the file itself: DJ name - Show @ XBEAT Radio (DD.MM.YYYY).mp3. Without a show, it names it DJ name - XBEAT Radio (upload date).mp3. So your file name doesn't matter.

⚠️ Don't

Converting a 128 or 192 kbps MP3 "to 320" is pointless: the sound stays just as damaged, in a bigger file, and the team will hear it. Always start from the original recording (WAV) or re-export from your mixing software.

Reminder: sets must arrive at least 5 days before their broadcast date.
